About Flash Science

Flash Science is an independent educational website dedicated to one simple idea: the biggest questions in science deserve answers that anyone can understand. Why does the Earth spin? How does a plane really stay in the air? Why is the sky blue? We take questions like these apart step by step and put them back together in plain language.

How we work

Every explainer on Flash Science is prepared through careful desk research using reputable sources — space agencies such as NASA and ESA, government science bodies such as NOAA, the FDA and the U.S. Department of Energy, encyclopaedias, and university resources. Each article lists its sources at the end, so you can check everything we say and read further.

We are careful to separate what science has firmly established from what remains an estimate or an open question, and we say so directly in the text. Where popular explanations are wrong — and in science, many famous ones are — we point out the myth and show the evidence.

The images and short animated clips on this site are original works generated and edited specifically for Flash Science. Every article carries a short animated summary because we believe seeing an idea move is often the fastest way to understand it.
